活生生 is a reduplicated adjective/adverb that vividly emphasizes something as being starkly real, often with a negative or dramatic tone. You can use it to describe a painful truth that is painfully obvious (活生生的例子) or to stress that something happens while the subject is still alive (活生生被气死). It adds intensity and a sense of inescapable reality.
