Definition
泮 is a bound morpheme (b.f.) that almost always appears inside a compound word. Its two main roles are: (1) in classical education terms like 泮池 (pàn chí 'pond in front of a Confucian temple') and 泮宫 (pàn gōng 'ancient imperial school'), and (2) in old texts where it means 'floodwaters'. Do not use 泮 as a standalone word for 'school' or 'flood'; it must be attached to another character.
b.f.
bound form used in 泮池 (pond in front of a Confucian temple) and 泮宫 (ancient school)(archaic) floodwaters
