Definition
泥泞 (ní nìng) is an adjective describing ground that is wet, soft, and sticky with mud, like a path after rain. It is different from 泥土 (ní tǔ, 'soil, mud' as a noun) and 混浊 (hùn zhuó, 'turbid' for liquids or air). Use 泥泞 only for surfaces that are muddy and difficult to walk or drive on.
