泄 (xiè) is a bound form meaning 'to leak, discharge, or vent', usually appearing in compounds like 泄露 (leak info), 泄漏 (leak liquid/gas), and 发泄 (vent emotions). Unlike 漏 (lòu), which can stand alone for any kind of leak, 泄 is more formal and often requires a second character to specify the type. For divulging secrets, 泄露/泄漏 are more common than 泄 alone.
