沿岸 (yán àn) means 'along the shore' and can refer to the area along a sea coast (coastal area) or a riverbank (riparian area). This is broader than its siblings: 沿海 (yán hǎi) is specifically along the sea, 海岸 (hǎi àn) is the coastline itself, and 海滨 (hǎi bīn) emphasizes the seaside leisure zone. 沿线 (yán xiàn) is along a transportation route, not a shore.
