Definition
江东 is a historical geographical term referring to the region east of the lower Yangtze River, roughly covering modern southern Jiangsu, northern Zhejiang, and Shanghai. During the Three Kingdoms period, it served as the heartland of the Sun Wu kingdom, and the name carries strong cultural and literary associations, often evoking images of ancient battles, romance, and the Jiangnan landscape. In modern usage it can loosely refer to the lower Yangtze area, but is most commonly encountered in historical texts, classical poetry, and idioms.
