Definition
比照 has two closely related uses. As a verb it means 'to compare, to contrast, to draw an analogy between two things' — you can 比照 two plans or 比照 someone's experience. It also appears in a preposition-like usage meaning 'according to, in the light of, following the model of' — e.g. 比照这个标准 ('according to this standard'). The second use is the more common one in formal and legal contexts.
