Definition
残留 (cán liú) describes something that remains after the main part has been removed or ended — a substance, trace, or lingering feeling. It differs from 剩余 (shèng yú), which refers to a countable leftover quantity or surplus, and from 持续 (chí xù), which emphasizes the uninterrupted continuation of an action or state.
