槟 (bīn) is a bound character that only appears in the word 槟子 (bīnzi), which refers to a type of fruit similar to a small apple or crabapple. Outside of this compound, it does not carry independent meaning. It is distinct from 槟 (bīng) in 槟榔 (bīngláng, 'areca nut').
