Definition
椎 (chuí) is a bound morpheme meaning 'vertebra'. It does not stand alone as a word but appears in compounds like 脊椎 (jǐchuí, spine), 腰椎 (yāochuí, lumbar vertebra), and 颈椎 (jǐngchuí, cervical vertebra). Note that the same character can also be read as zhuī with a different meaning ('hammer'), so pay attention to context.
