栽培 (zāi péi) means 'to cultivate' in two senses: growing plants (more formal than 种植 zhòngzhí) and developing talent (more formal than 培养 péiyǎng, implying long-term nurturing by a mentor). Unlike 培训 (skill training) or 养殖 (animal/plant breeding), 栽培 focuses on a holistic, developmental process.
