Definition
查清 is a resultative verb compound (verb + complement). 查 means 'to investigate' and 清 means 'clear' or 'thorough'. Together, 查清 means to investigate something until the facts are clear. You can insert 得 or 不 between the two syllables to indicate possibility: 查得清 (can investigate thoroughly) or 查不清 (cannot get to the bottom of it).
