Definition
查房 is a medical term meaning 'to do hospital rounds' – doctors check on patients in the wards. It is a separable verb (离合词): 查 and 房 can split apart when adding a duration, frequency, or result complement, as in 查了一次房 ('did rounds once') or 查完房 ('finished rounds'). The person being examined is introduced with 对 or 给, not placed directly after 查房.
