Definition
朱红 (zhū hóng) is a specific, vivid shade of red — vermilion — traditionally used in Chinese architecture, painting, and ceremonial objects. Unlike the general color word 红 (hóng), 朱红 refers to a particular pigment; and unlike 通红 (tōng hóng, 'bright red all over'), it is not used for flushed faces or glowing appearances but for a fixed, cultural color.
