Definition
有线 is a separable verb-object phrase (离合词) literally meaning 'to have wires/cables'. It is most commonly used as an attributive in compound nouns such as 有线电视 (cable TV) and 有线网络 (wired network). As a separable phrase, 有 and 线 can be split — for example, 有一根线 ('to have one wire') or 没有线 ('to have no wire'). In everyday use, however, it often functions as an adjective-like modifier without splitting.
