曼荼罗 (mandala) is a loanword from Sanskrit, used in Buddhism and Hinduism to refer to a geometric design that symbolizes the universe. In Tibetan Buddhism, mandalas are often created as sand paintings for meditation and ritual purposes. The term can also refer to any such symbolic diagram in art or spirituality.
