Definition
晒 (shài) means to expose something to the sun (晒衣服 'dry clothes in the sun') or to bask in it (晒太阳 'sunbathe'). It also has a modern figurative sense: to share or show off on social media (晒照片 'post photos'). Unlike 照 (zhào) 'shine on' or 晾 (liàng) 'air-dry', 晒 always involves the sun's direct rays, not just light or air.
