Definition
映出 is a resultative verb (r.v.) formed by 映 (to reflect, to project) and 出 (out, to appear). It means 'to reflect (an image) so that it becomes visible'. Like many resultative verbs, it can be split: aspect markers (映出了) or potential complements (映得出 'can reflect', 映不出 'cannot reflect') go between the two characters.
