Definition
时事 (shí shì) refers specifically to current affairs and news events — what is happening in the world that gets reported. It differs from 现状 (xiàn zhuàng 'current situation/status quo'), which is more about the present state of things, and from 局势/事态, which describe a situation (often political or evolving).
