Definition
无能 (wú néng) is an adjective describing a person's inherent lack of ability or competence — 'incapable, incompetent'. Unlike 无法 (wú fǎ, 'unable to' — focuses on lacking a method/means) or 无能为力 (wú néng wéi lì, an idiom for being powerless in a situation), 无能 expresses a trait or character flaw. It can also describe institutions or efforts that are ineffectual.
