Definition
新鲜 means 'fresh' for food, and also 'new/fresh' for experiences or ideas. It is broader than 新 (xīn, 'new' in time) and more common in daily speech than 鲜 (xiān, which mainly pairs with other characters for freshness). For 'novel' or 'original', 新鲜 is more casual than 新颖 (xīnyǐng, HSK6).
