Definition
断路 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to cut off' in literal, relational, or electrical contexts. Like other verb-object compounds, it can split: 断了路 ('broke the road/circuit/relations'). In physical contexts it means blocking a road; in interpersonal contexts it refers to cutting ties; in electronics it describes breaking a circuit. The split form is common when adding aspect or measure words (断了三次路).
