Definition
敲诈 means to extort or blackmail, typically by threats or force. It is more specific than 诈骗 (zhàpiàn), which is general fraud/swindling without necessarily using threats. 讹诈 (ézhà) also means extortion but often implies using false pretenses or bluffing rather than direct threats.
