Definition
救 (jiù) is the general, everyday verb for 'to save or rescue' someone from danger or harm. It is more versatile than compound verbs like 抢救 (emergency medical rescue) or 救援 (formal, organized relief). 救命 (jiù mìng) is specifically 'save a life' and is also used as a cry for help.
