Definition
放过 (fàngguò) means either to let someone off (not punish them) or to let an opportunity slip by. Compare 饶 (ráo), which emphasizes showing mercy or leniency, and 漏 (lòu), which means to accidentally leave out or omit something — 放过 is more about deliberately passing something up or choosing not to hold someone accountable.
