Definition
放射 (fàngshè) means to emit radiation, light, or energy from a source (e.g., the sun or a machine). It is close to 辐射 (fúshè), but 辐射 is more technical and often a noun; 放射 is strictly a verb. Unlike 照射 (zhàoshè), which focuses on light hitting a surface, or 焕发 (huànfā), which is metaphorical (radiating a quality), 放射 emphasizes the emission itself.
