Definition
改称 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to change a name or title'. The verb 改 ('change') splits from the noun 称 ('name/title') when you insert a measure word, duration, or object between them — for example, 改过几次称 ('changed the name several times'). It's used when an institution, position, or person's title is officially renamed.
