Definition
改嫁 is a separable verb (离合词) that specifically refers to a woman remarrying after divorce or the death of her husband. The verb 改 and the noun 嫁 can split when inserting measure words, time expressions, or complements: 改了一次嫁 ('remarried once'). Note that 改嫁 is only used for women; for men, use 再娶 or 续弦. In modern usage, the term can carry social judgments, so be mindful of tone.
