Definition
撇开 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to set aside' or 'to bypass' an issue, topic, or person. It follows the pattern Subject + 把 + Object + 撇开, or you can separate the verb and resultative complement: 撇得开 (able to set aside) / 撇不开 (unable to set aside). The object usually goes between them: 撇开这个话题 → 把这个话题撇开.
