Definition
撂 is a colloquial verb meaning to put something down carelessly or abruptly, to leave something behind and walk away, or to physically throw or knock something down. It often carries a sense of casualness, finality, or even carelessness — unlike the neutral 放下 ('set down'), 撂 suggests you're done with it and don't care much. You can 撂下一句话 ('leave a remark and walk off'), 撂挑子 ('abandon one's duties'), or 撂倒 someone ('knock them down'). Use it in informal or spoken contexts.
