Definition
摸黑 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to grope in the dark' or 'to do something in the dark'. The verb 摸 ('to feel, grope') and the object 黑 ('darkness') can be split: you can insert measure words, duration, or other elements between them, e.g. 摸了一次黑 ('groped in the dark once'). It can also refer to doing something at dusk or in dim light. The word is colloquial and often used for activities done without light.
