摒 (bìng) is a bound form (不成词语素) that cannot stand alone as a word. It always appears as the first element in disyllabic verbs like 摒弃 (to discard, to abandon) and 摒除 (to eliminate, to remove). These words are used in formal or written Chinese to express rejecting or getting rid of something, such as bad habits, old ideas, or unnecessary things.
