Definition
提炼 means to extract and refine something valuable — physically from raw materials (ore, oil) or figuratively (the essence of a book or experience). It differs from 炼 (liàn), which focuses on smelting metal or honing skills through practice, and from 净化 (jìnghuà), which means to purify by removing impurities (air, water, soul).
