Definition
接过 is a resultative verb compound (动结式) formed from 接 (to receive) and 过 (to pass over). It means to take something someone hands to you, often by reaching out your hand, or to take over a role or task. As a resultative compound, it can be split to show possibility: 接得/不 + 过 (able/unable to receive). When used with an object, the object goes after the whole compound. The dictionary pinyin is jiē guō, but in natural speech the 过 is often neutral (guo).
