Definition
接球 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to catch or receive a ball' in sports like baseball, basketball, or tennis. The verb 接 and the object 球 can split when you add a complement or measure word: 接住球 ('catch the ball successfully'), 接了一个好球 ('caught a good ball'). You cannot put a direct object after 接球 — the ball is already the object. Use it with 把 (把球接住) or with complements (接不到球).
