Definition
接替 (jiē tì) means to take over someone's position, post, or duty in a succession — it always implies replacing a specific person in a role. 代替 is more general (any substitute), 取代 implies supplanting (often forcefully), and 接班 is a separable verb focused on succeeding in a work shift or leadership role. Use 接替 when a person formally assumes another's job.
