Definition
换上 is a resultative verb (r.v.) meaning 'to change into (new clothes, shoes, etc.)' or 'to replace with something new'. The 上 is a resultative complement indicating that the new item is put on. Like other resultative compounds, it can be split with 得 or 不 to indicate possibility: 换得上 (can change into) and 换不上 (cannot change into).
