Definition
挥舞 (huī wǔ) means to wave or brandish something in the air with a sweeping motion, like a flag, arm, or weapon. It is more specific than 挥 (huī), which can be used alone for waving but also for other actions (e.g., 挥手 'wave hand'). Unlike 招手 (zhāo shǒu), which is waving to beckon someone, 挥舞 emphasizes the vigorous motion of the object itself.
