Definition
拦路 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to block the way' or 'to obstruct'. The object or a measure word can be inserted between 拦 and 路, e.g. 拦了路 ('blocked the way'), 拦过一次路 ('blocked the way once'). It is often used literally for physical obstruction, but also metaphorically for obstacles.
