Definition
招领 is a verb used when you publicly announce that you have found something and want the owner to come and claim it. It's the act of putting up a notice or posting on social media to find the owner of lost property. The English gloss 'regain lost property by showing ownership' is misleading — that's the action of the owner (认领, rènlǐng), not the person who found it. 招领 always focuses on the announcement side.
