Definition
招工 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to recruit workers' or 'to hire staff'. The noun 工 ('worker') can split off when adding measures or duration, e.g., 招了一次工 ('recruited once'). Note that the second meaning 'confession' in some dictionaries is a mistake—it actually belongs to 招供 (zhāogòng). For 招工, only the hiring sense is correct.
