Definition
拘束 (jū shù) as a verb means 'to restrict or restrain' from external rules or conditions, unlike 克制 (kè zhì) which is about restraining oneself internally. As an adjective, it describes feeling socially awkward or ill at ease, while 别扭 (biè niu) emphasizes awkwardness from conflict or disagreement. It is the opposite of 自由 (zì yóu 'free').
