Definition
拒 is a bound morpheme (b.f.) — it cannot stand alone as a word in modern Chinese. You will see it as the first or second part of compound words that mean 'refuse', 'reject', or 'resist', such as 拒绝 (to refuse), 抗拒 (to resist), and 拒收 (to reject delivery). When you encounter 拒, think of it as a building block for these verbs.
