拉长 is a resultative verb compound (V+Adj) meaning 'to lengthen or elongate something by pulling'. It can be used both literally (stretching an object) and figuratively (prolonging time or making a face longer). As a separable verb (离合词), you can insert aspect markers or complements between the two characters: 拉长了 (lengthened), 拉不长 (cannot lengthen), 拉得很长 (stretched very long).
