报纸 (bàozhǐ) refers to the physical newspaper — the printed pages you read. Don't confuse it with 新闻 (xīnwén), which is the news content itself, or 报社 (bàoshè), which is the newspaper company or institution. 报刊 (bàokān) is a broader term for newspapers and magazines collectively.
