Definition
报数 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to count off' — soldiers or group members call out numbers in order. The verb 报 and the noun 数 can be separated by a measure word, duration, or frequency: e.g., 报一次数 'count off once'. You don't 报数 someone; the number itself is the object.
