把手 (bǎ shou) is the general, everyday word for a handle or grip on doors, tools, containers, etc. Compare 把柄 (bǎ bǐng), which also literally means a handle (especially of a tool/weapon) but is much more often used figuratively for 'leverage' or something that can be used against someone.
