承重 is an attributive adjective (属性词) meaning 'load-bearing'. It must appear directly before a noun and is used almost exclusively in technical or construction contexts to describe structural elements such as walls, beams, and frames that support weight. A much rarer, archaic meaning involves a funeral ritual role (承重孙), which is not used in modern everyday Chinese.
