Definition
扼要 means 'concise and to the point', describing speech or writing that covers the key points without unnecessary detail. The secondary historical sense 'to occupy a strategic position' is now rare in modern Chinese and can be safely ignored for HSK study. You can use it as a predicate adjective (他的发言很扼要) or as a modifier before 的 or 地 (扼要的说明).
