Definition
扭转 (niǔ zhuǎn) means 'to reverse' an undesirable situation or trend, or 'to twist/wrench' something physically. It differs from 扭 (niǔ), which is a simpler physical twist or sprain, and from 颠倒 (diān dǎo), which means to flip order or position upside down. 扳 (bān) can also mean to turn around a situation but implies pulling with force.
